Amaze me August #14 ~~ How to make a Rosette from Ribbon

Posted on 21:21 by Unknown
Photobucket
Hey everyone, just wanted to welcome you to my 14th week of doing this party.
When I first started it, I didn't know if I'd be able to stick with it, honestly.
I have surpised myself, and am pleased to say, I think I've created a new habit, YAYY.
This party has been the one regular thing about my blog, and without you all, I surely would not have the motivation to keep it coming, but I know that I am starting to have regular people who participate, and I appreciate you all, SOO much!!
***************
Speaking of which, have you checked out my giveaway yet, hmmmm???
I worked really hard, at trying to put together something really special for my followers, so if you are one of them, get your bum over there, and enter already. What are you waiting for??
**********************
Ok, now check this out. I have been posting about this silly little wreath of mine a bit lately. What's the big deal you might ask, it's just a wreath, and nothing all that special actually, sadly, yes I agree. But hear me out OK, for being the crafty person I am, and for loving all things crafty, I have really been lazy in that department, for a long time. Yeah my wreath will agree to that, lol. This year, finally I gave it a makeover, a SIMPLE one, still nothing too fancy, because I'm not actually going to go to the store, and buy anything, I must use what I have at home, or too bad. So I was stuck with old flowers, or ribbon, ha ha.

I choose the ribbon, and being that again, I am so stinking cheap, I messed with it for like 2 hours, until I figured out a way, to make these little rosettes, and not make it permanent, as in no glue, or anything else. So thankfully, next year, shall I choose to reuse those ribbons again, I can, he he, and I prob will too.

Ok, so here are some pics, to try and put it all together, again, not rocket science, at all. Don't know what took me so long, to do something a bit different. For someone who gets bored easily, and always wants a change, I sure got comfy with the same old decorations, year after year. Hopefully I can modify quite a few things this year. SO be back to check it out.

This was actually done lile all those tutorials out there for real rosettes, but I didn't want to glue it so I had to figure out another way, he he.

I love how the gold wire trim holds the shape, but does make it a bit more challenging for what I was trying to do.

Simple enough, just loosely roll it up!

Pinch tight!

I used some OLD gold ribbon. Dang I don't know the correct terms for all these different ribbons, hopefully you guys know what I'm talking about :)

All smushed, from rolling, and pinching.

Fluffed out, again, nice.

Just stick them in the wreath, no wire, no glue, and the gold ties look cute I think.

Ta da....

My new wreath. That's actually REALLY OLD.

Now on to the party. I will be doing some features tommorrow. :)

If you are linking up, PLEASE make sure to go grab yourself an entry to my GIVEAWAY, you get extra entries just for participating in my party, and adding my button. Just a thought, in case you wanted some free stuff, for Christmas. Alrighty then, link up, HAVE FUN.

My NEW 20 year old wreath

Posted on 19:08 by Unknown
Go HERE to ENTER!!

As promised, I will be sharing with you my latest creation. Yesterday I was goofing off, trying new looks for my wreath. Read about that HERE. After about six differnt tries, I still wasn't happy. I was still using 15 year old flowers, dollars store buys, I have been using to decorate my Christmas tree for the past 15 years.

A little about me, I have been living in my own place since I was like 16. Back in California, my parents had a workshop built in our backyard, it was huge, and my dad worked in it. Then when I was 15 my dad passed away, and my mom redid the workshop into a little living space, bedroom, living, kitchen and bath. So I moved into our backyard, and had my own place, still at home though, he he. So naturally I had to have my own christmas tree, etc. I was poor, working at Sears at the time, as a makeup consultant. So I decorated as I could, which meant DOLLAR STORE. Pic n Save, if I remember correctly was another good one. Anyway, since then I have been using the SAME OLD things, and so here we are, like 20 years later (practically) and I still refuse to get rid of these things, because they are still good. Being the TOTAL cheap mama that I am, I will not go buying new things, even if I can.

So keeping with tradition, I simply can't bring myself to buy new things, unless I have no choice. I will find a way to decorate, with what I have.

Alrighty then, so way back then, I bought some poinsettia flowers, and some ribbon, I made bows with. This is what I have been decorating my tree with practically every year.

The ribbons got a new use this time though.

Check out my NEW 20 year old wreath, made with 20 year old ribbon.

What do you guys think now???

Do you like it??

20 year old WREATH~~

Posted on 15:46 by Unknown
Ok so since I've had the wreath for like 20 years, I've always, as in ALWAYS had the same old bow, and the same old poinsettia flowers on it. I think I've added like a bell, and maybe some pinecones one year, but basically it's been the same EXACTLY the same forEVER!!

While unpacking my Christmas decorations, I KNEW I could not put up the SAME old wreath.  You all would never approve, and quite honestly I couldn't believe I never did change it before.

So here's just a couple ideas, feel free to laugh, but remember the first pic is how it has looked for like 20 years, so basically ANYTHING at this point is an improvement right???

Ok, I want EVERYONE to let me know what you think, how bad is it really, and which one would you choose, if you had no other choice, but these, lol. Funny I know.!!

Remember it is OK to laugh, just tell me what is so funny, OK.

Oh and btw, I actually did put some REAL time into trying to make it look really cute, and with the above ribbons, (which are also like 15 years old) I managed to do a little something something. Come back later to see what it is, will ya. Until then you are stuck looking at these lovely pics.

My little DINO helper is too cute, and wouldn't leave me alone until I photographed his dinos, lol. So there you have it!! My 20 year old wreath. Which one was your favorite, and which one did you cringe over, lol. Tell me, hurry, I need to know.

~~DO NOT FORGET~~
~~MY GIVEAWAY IS COMING SOON~~
~~SEVEN PRIZES UP FOR GRABS PEOPLE~~

As always ENJOY!
